Will high IQ lead to success in life? Is high IQ the necessity to be successful in life? According to statistics, high IQ contributes only 20% to the factors that determine success. The rest of 80% comes from other factors and EQ is a major impact on how successfully you live your life. The most important EQ skills include self-awareness, self-control, self-motivation, empathy and people skills. I believe among them, self-awareness and people skills are the biggest contributors to success.
Self-awareness is one of the important contributors to success. Highly successful people always possess excellent mood management. They understand their emotions very well and never let them get out of control. Once people know what they are feeling then they are able to decide how the best for themselves. Moreover, they are good in tackling with their stressful situation. They have the ability to find a solution to release them and don’t let them get in the way of their life. They even treat stress as a pusher that makes them always keep moving along. In addition, they also don’t hesitate to look at themselves. They assess their strengths and weaknesses, so that they know how to minimize their weaknesses and how to maximize their strengths. Hence, they can perform better. They also clearly understand what they want and why they want it. Thus, they can make a proper decision and boost their motivation to make things become a reality.
People skill is another important contributor to success. The ability to communicate with others is a great people skill. First of all, people should speak up to ensure meet their needs, and have clarity and purpose when they talk. In this way, you can easily break the barriers between people and you. Not only care about yourself; likewise, it’s important to care for others. When we listen to another person, we can interact with each other and develop a relationship. Secondly, to relate to other people is important in every situation. The better we know the feeling behind other people’s signals, the better we control the signal we respond. Moreover, people come with different temperament, competence and so on. Don’t feel resentful when they own the ability or assets and you don’t. Collaboration with them will benefit you to go beyond what you can do on your own.
There are many EQ skills, all of them are important and are the factors to success. Self-awareness deals with understanding, controlling and adjusting to people’s actions. Without self-awareness, people will not be able to control and improve their behavior as well as pilot their lives. People all live in society so great people skills can help communication, relationship and interaction with others, and then achieve effectiveness. Hence, self-awareness and people skills are the most crucial EQ skills to success.

Tariq Batto: Emotional Intelligence
More than 200 years ago, people used to measure intelligence by measuring the size and shape of a person’s head; later test was developed into a more modern test known as IQ (intelligence quotient). Researchers found that IQ tests did not accurately predict the success of a person in his life. Recent researches and theories of intelligence comprise emotional intelligence, EQ. David Goleman an American Psychologist considered that EQ includes skills concerning how a person empathizes with others and relate well to other people. Among the EQ skills, the most important ones are: self-control, and people skills.
In fact, living in the same house with a wife and children, one should not blow up directly whenever there is something wrong happening in the house, so he has to take the things easily and solve the problems by negotiations. Some times problems take place between neighbors; self-control is important in such situation to handle the anger by wisdom and good wiring between them leads to living together with respect. Self-control with surrounding environment plays a role in the success of a person; people with different personalities meet daily in the street, subway, schools, and work. We have to meet them with politeness and proficiency. At work, for example if the boss speaks with you roughly because of your imperfect performance in doing your job, you should hold up your upset and annoyance with an open mind, and not to make a fuss during the discussion between the both of you. On the other hand, the boss has to begin his note by encouraging and describing your positive task that you had done. In brief the success of a person in his life depends on his daily behaviors.
How well people communication important to built a good relation to empathize and to recognize the feeling of each others. Further more people have to respect the customs and traditions of the other community feelings, without any discrimination, in religion, race, and color. In addition, building a solid block of respect between people and countries will enhance the relationship and strengthen the feeling of living in peace all over the world. All in all, the relating well to people is important to built success.
In summery, although many researchers and psychologists have conducted research on intelligence during the last two centuries, I predict that there will be more and more studies concerning this field which could be contradictory with the EQ results.

Pooneh Okhravi: Emotional Intelligence
Scientists measure intelligence using a test known as the IQ test which predicts how well children would do in school. After many years, American psychologist Daniel Golman invented another test that measured emotional intelligence or EQ.EQ includes skills such as understanding ones own emotions and relating well to other people. When children are born, they have a basic level of EQ , but they can learn and increase their EQ. The EQ helps us to achieve our golden dreams .Among EQ skills, self awareness and impulse control are the greatest contribute to success.
Self awareness is one of the important EQ skills which contribute to success. First of all ,we have to learn the basic knowledge of our different feelings and their effects on our bodies .The keystone of emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize a feeling as it happens. For example, when people who fear snakes are shown a picture of a snake, different parts of their bodies respond to that feeling of fear .The sweat glands, nervous system, muscles and among others respond to anxiety even though they said they do not feel fear. To developing self awareness which contributes to success, it is better we evaluate our feelings and stop the negative parts of it .
Impulse control is another important EQ skills which tend to lead people to success. The essence of emotional self regulation is the ability to delay impulse. The results of a study in Stanford University show four –year-old children were told they could have a single treat, such as a marshmallow, right away. However, if they would wait while the experimenter ran an errand, they could have two marshmallows immediately. Some of the children were able to wait, and sustain themselves in their struggle, they used different methods. In adolescent, the children who as four –years-old had been able to wait for marshmallows were more socially competent and self assertive, and better able to cope with life’s frustration .Those adolescent reached their goals and were more successful in their life. The ability to resist impulse can be developed with practice. We, therefore, have to think about our long term goals such as a medical degree or losing weight. Then, we can find it easier to keep from settling for the single marshmallow.
In conclusion, about eighty percent of the factors that determine success are EQ skills. Then we have to know the major factors and develop them. One of the most important one is that we should practice to reach the best result. Because we have a basic level of emotional intelligence at birth practice is the only way of developing it.
